Incubating 101
Incubation 101 is a hands on workshop designed to teach you how to successfully hatch and raise your own poultry with confidence. Whether you are brand new to incubation or looking to improve your hatch rates, this class walks you through the full process from start to finish.
During this workshop, we will demonstrate how to properly select and set chicken eggs in the incubator, monitor temperature and humidity, understand egg turning, and recognize key milestones throughout the incubation timeline. You will learn the differences in incubation requirements for various poultry, including chicken, quail, and Cayuga duck eggs, and how to adjust settings for successful hatches.
Participants will see newly hatched quail and learn proper brooder setup, heat management, feeding, watering, and early stage care. We will also cover common mistakes, troubleshooting hatch problems, and how to transition chicks and ducklings safely as they grow.
In addition to incubation, we will discuss housing considerations, flock development, and practical predator protection techniques to help you raise healthy birds beyond hatch day.
This is not a lecture. It is practical, real world instruction based on hands on farm experience. You will leave with the knowledge needed to confidently start your own incubation process at home.
A limited number of incubators will be available for purchase for those ready to begin their poultry journey.
Spots are limited to keep the workshop interactive and educational.
